The Vancouver-based artists collective, Intermission, was first formed in 1998 by Emily Carr students Marianne Bos, Derek Brunen, and Khan Lee along with Mark Brady.

The group was initially formed through a common interest in experimentation and a dedication to facilitating the realization of each other's desires. These key interests continue to direct Intermissions' focus.

In recent years, Intermission has expanded to include Julie Gendron and Emily Carr alumni Natalie Purschwitz, Steve Calvert, and Miriam Needoba. All eight members of the collective live and work in the same building and their space has also become a resource base for other local artists.

Intermission has recently gained non-profit status and is currently working toward becoming an artist-run-centre.
